È un viaggio tra tutti quegli elementi che compongono le diverse realtà musicali e artistiche: non solo le due scene underground per eccellenza, il punk e l'hip hop con tutte le loro contaminazioni, ma anche tutti quei fenomeni culturali esplosivi che hanno contribuito a creare un immaginario collettivo, a partire da festival musicali, centri sociali, spazi occupati e radio libere. Più di ottanta intervistati che attraverso i loro ricordi e punti di vista ci raccontano quarant'anni di autoproduzioni e di Do It Yourself: dai vinili di etichette musicali indipendenti alla carta stampata delle fanzine, dalle musicassette alla serigrafia, dai video alle webzine, senza dimenticare writers, graffiti e tatuaggi e scelte di vita come veganesimo e lotte ambientaliste. Questa storia collettiva si snoda da nord a sud, passando non solo per le principali città italiane, ma per tutti quei luoghi che, anche se secondari sulla carta geografica, sono sempre stati un fulcro di diffusione d'underground.</text>

“La strategia era questa: entravi dalle grate, controllavi che non ci fosse il treno giallo o altro, andavi in stazione e aprivi le porte per l’uscita nell’eventualità che succedesse qualcosa, così sapevi già dove fugare. Poi scendevi e facevi il cazzo che volevi. Le cose che ricordo di più sono il calore che si sentiva lì sotto, un silenzio incredibile e l’adrenalina che pompa… sei solo in una fermata della metro e stai andando in tunnel, ma il fatto di essere all’interno di uno spazio in cui non ci dovrebbe essere nessuno e ne sei padrone è una sensazione incredibile che ti ripaga di tutto.
